North East boys track and field team finished first in a three-team meet at Rising Sun High School last Tuesday, April 4. The boys (83) defeated Patterson Mill (65), and Rising Sun (35).
The Indians took two of the of the four relay races. Jordan McCollum, Sean McGowan, Taylor Danglade, and Jalen Giles, combined to win the 4x100 relay. Michael King, Sean McGowan, Kevin Dennis, and Michael Duong collectively won the 4x200 relay. "Heart."
It's a word frequently used in sports to describe the tenacity an athlete or team demonstrates in the face of adversity. Although she's had five surgeries on her's, there can be no questioning Logan Ewing's heart. The Perryville girls are in first place after the first ay of the state track and field meet at Morgan State.
The Perryville girls clinched their fifth straight region track and field title.
The Panthers racked up a whopping 235.5 points to easily outdistance second place Patterson Mill (115). Alysa Conway, Autumn Estep, and Brooke Doane each scored in all four of their events to lead Perryville's girls track and field team to a second place finish in the UCBAC meet.
C. Milton Wright won the girls team competition with 126 points while Perryville scored 117. Harford Tech (106.5) was third followed by Bel Air (91), Patterson Mill (66), North Harford (41), Rising Sun (31), Edgewood (25), North East (23.5), Aberdeen (23), Fallston (20), Elkton (12.5), Joppatowne (7), Havre de Grace (6.5), and Bohemia Manor (6). The Perryville girls are in first place following day one of the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference track and field meet.
The Panthers (42 points) lead C. Milton Wright (32), Patterson Mill (32), and Harford Tech (27.5). Perryville's track and field team hosted Fallston and Joppatowne on Senior Day on May 3.
The Panthers' Jarah Cevis set a school record in the shot put with a distance of 35 feet, 4 inches, breaking the old mark of 34 feet, 3 inches, set by Joyce Biby in 1982. Rising Sun hosted a track and field meet last Thursday with North Harford and Fallston also attending.
The Elkton boys and North Harford girls won the team titles at the Susquehanna Division track and field meet held in Havre de Grace Tuesday, April 19.
The Perryville girls and Elkton boys won the team titles at the Cecil County track and field meet at Rising Sun Tuesday, April 12.
